constructive feedback:

there's too much emphasis on trial and error for the puzzle mechanics to be fun here, at least for me. there were multiple situations in which i had to pick a direction and guess, hoping for the best, which is kind of lame. it'd be nice if you took the minesweeper approach and had some kind of visual indicator for the amount of nearby mines, or had some kind of different new mechanic here to engage with.

also, the movement is kind of janky. it'd be nice if you could hold arrow keys to move a bit quicker or tap to move faster than the game lets you, since if I tap a direction a bunch of times the current scenario is that the game drops your inputs.

also also, the sound effects would benefit from a bit of mixing, i think they ended up being much louder than the music and the victory sfx doesn't really mesh with the game music

Thank you for the feedback, I will dig in to that

absolutely unhinged in the best possible way

this has strong 2005 energy and i'm lovin it

this is really cool, i really dig the atmosphere / interactive elements that are goin' on here throughout the project, it's pretty dope to explore

my one complaint, idk if other people experienced this but as a non controller user pressing up and down on the arrow keys makes the page move up and down outside of the game, which is a bit frustrating for certain segments, unsure if it's something with my setup but usually most html games lock in the focus on the screen if you click into it so might be a thing with the engine

very fun, chill, underrated game. reminds me of old school minecraft. great job

this game is hella underrated

this game is very good. super under rated chill puzzle game. hidden gem, glad i found it.

really fun! gameplay loop is simple yet addictive.

could definitely benefit from some boss battles / unique enemies for sure if you're ever thinking about adding more

neat lil game! feels like doodle jump with a countdown timer. you guys should think about adding NG leaderboards to lean into that competitive element. nice job!

yahhcheee responds:

yep!! we're looking into it!

the game is unplayable for me - the races seem to end like 8 seconds in randomly, i think you should turn off ending the race if the other racers die (from comments that seems to be what's happening - can add respawn for them or something or just turn off ending race when that happens?)

and don't worry about the game jam thing preventing you from updating this that's silly, game jams are designed for you to put heads together and create cool stuff - that's their core objective. you can still update the game if you want, i think this is a scenario in which it's worth adding fixes and you can always just say 'originally made for game jam ____')

EDIT: i think this miiiight be because of varying frame rates on different computers? could try making racer speeds frame rate independent, might fix the problem if that's the core cause. couldn't say for sure but that may be why for some people in the comments this doesn't seem to be an issue.

GNOSTU responds:

Hey Coolturtle30 Thanks for taking the time out to play my game. The Studio is working on an updated and more playable version for those who have high end pc's. I hope that you will change your rating when the new update arrives. We are thinking of changing a lot of the game as a whole including graphics and game modes.

Stay Retro
